MEDAV GmbH has received an order for the electromagnetic signal-sensor part of the Brazilian border security program Sisfron. Deliveries will take place during 2013 to 2016. For MEDAV, this is one of the most important orders.
Sisfron is the integrated border monitoring system the Brazilian army is developing for its western border, contributing to regional security and fighting cross-border crimes.
Stationary as well as mobile remote controlled sensor-stations with monitoring and direction-finding capabilities in the frequency ranges HF, VHF and UHF will be delivered and a regional centre for monitoring (ISTAR) and a training centre are included in the contract. Together with this project, technology transfer is provided, increasing the autonomy in the supply chain and creating jobs in high technology sectors in Brazil.
For this order, MEDAV is subcontractor to Savis Tecnologia e Sistemas S.A., a subsidiary of Embraer Defesa & Seguranca S.A., wholly-owned by Embraer S.A. selected by the Brazilian Army to implement the Sisfron Phase 1 Program.
"This order is further testimony to MEDAV’s proven capability to provide leading solutions for threat detection and localization. Sisfron is a big project for border security and its success will be highly reliant on the capabilities of technical sensors", says Dr. Hans-Joachim Kolb, Managing Director of MEDAV GmbH.
We would like to inform you about our upcoming MEDAV seminar, which will take place from 24th - 28th June 2013 in Berlin.

MEDAV attended the XXI Meeting of the Permanent Consultative Committee II (PCC.II) from CITEL, the telecommunications/ICT advisory body of Organization of American States.
The meeting took place in Cali, Colombia, between 7 and 12 April 2013. There, regulatory authorities from the America's region discussed topics that will define the future of the telecommunication services, including terrestrial/satellite fixed and mobile.
In this event MEDAV, as guest, presented an informative document within the new Discussion Group on Spectrum Management, lead by the Colombian Regulatory Authority. The document was titled "Radio Localization and Monitoring Systems to Assist Spectrum Management".

Millimeter-Wave (mm-W) is considered a potential technology for high-data rate wireless transmission and for high-resolution short-range radar, due to the 7 to 9 GHz bandwidth available worldwide at the 60 GHz unlicensed band.
In this article we present 60 GHz front-ends with standard WR15 transitions developed in a close German cooperation between MEDAV GmbH, IHP (Frankfurt-Oder), and the Institute for Micro- and Nano-Technologies at Ilmenau University of Technology, including the Centre for Innovation Competence MacroNano®, the Electronic Measurement Research Lab, the RF and Microwave Research Lab, and the Electronics Technology Lab.
